What's Inside?

Part of the mint family, Basil is a beneficial herb that is commonly used in cooking. Basil adds a fresh, herbal flavour to meats, pastas, and entrée dishes. Cooked in or added as a garnish, Basil is sure to liven up your dish.

Frankincense

One of the most prized and precious oils due to its rich aroma, Frankincense is often referred to as the “king” of essential oils. Centuries ago, ancient Egyptians used Frankincense resin for everything from perfume to salves for the skin. Its soothing and beautifying properties may be rejuvenating to skin and may help reduce the appearance of imperfections when applied topically.

Lavender

With its distinct aroma and countless applications, Lavender has become one of the most popular essential oils. Anciently, the Romans and Egyptians would use Lavender for bathing. Since that time, many have discovered the myriad of other benefits it holds. Lavender is widely used in cosmetics and perfumes for its ability to promote healthy, clean skin. Additionally, its calming properties are often used to relax the body and improve mood. Its versatile benefits make Lavender an oil to have on-hand everywhere you go.

Marjoram

Marjoram was known to the Greeks and Romans as a symbol of happiness. Commonly recognised for its ability to spice foods, Majoram essential oil is a unique cooking additive. The herbaceous flavouring of Marjoram oil can be used in soups, stews, dressings, and sauces. In Germany, this herb is known as the “Goose Herb” for its traditional use when roasting geese.

Peppermint

Consistently one of dōTERRA’s best sellers, Peppermint is always a useful oil to have on hand. Peppermint adds a refreshing, minty taste to desserts, beverages, smoothies, and even savoury dishes. A high menthol content – like that found in the dōTERRA Peppermint essential oil – distinguishes the best quality Peppermint oil from other products. Peppermint is also frequently used in toothpaste and chewing gum for oral care.

Roman Chamomile

Roman Chamomile grows close to the ground, reaching only up to a foot in height. It has grey-green leaves, flowers that resemble a daisy, and smells like an apple. The plant has been nicknamed the “plant’s physician” because it has positive effects on plants growing nearby. Ancient Romans used the Roman Chamomile oil for courage during war. While the most common use for Chamomile is in tea, Roman Chamomile can also be found in face creams, hair dyes, shampoos, and perfumes.

Rosemary

Rosemary is an aromatic, evergreen shrub whose leaves are frequently used to flavour foods such as stuffing, pork, roast lamb, chicken, and turkey. Long revered, Rosemary was considered sacred by the ancient Greek, Roman, Egyptian, and Hebrew cultures. Rosemary’s herbaceous and energising scent is frequently used in aroma and massage therapy.

Wintergreen (Nepalese)

Wintergreen essential oil is derived from the leaves of a creeping shrub found in the rural mountains of Nepal. The soothing and stimulating properties of Wintergreen providea fresh, uplifting environment. The main chemical component in Wintergreen, methyl salicylate, is used in topical creams and massage blends because of its soothing properties. In fact, Wintergreen and Birch are the only plants in the world that naturally contain this specific chemical component.
